objectives from this module:
Production Planning is the heart of the ERP’s manufacturing
planning and control system. The core output from the module
is the generation of an optimized production plan, which
results due to a multitude of complex calculations performed
by the Material Requirement Planning II (MRP II) engine.
The MRP engine takes the product structure of the package,
order quantity, delivery date, process and procurement lead
times to generate the production plan. This plan automatically
calculates when which process should start and end, what
materials and quantities would be required before a particular
manufacturing process. The planning keeps getting updated
due to a number of real-life events, such as job confirmations,
delays in material arrival, machine breakdown, urgent orders
etc.
The
plans generated by the MRP II based ERP also takes into
consideration the installed machine capacity department-wise,
existing planned loads and effect on capacities across work
centers upon planning a certain order within ERP determined
time period. This process, called Capacity Requirement Planning
(CRP), is an integral part of the PP module.
In
case of projected overloads, decisions are taken by the
production planner to either shift the order forward, split
order or enhance capacity by engaging extra shits or personnel,
subcontracting or by installing more machines in-house.The
PP module also generates standard costing for the entire
order.

The following are some of the outputs from the PP module: |
Generation
of production plan, validated against current capacity and available
time.
Requirement determination for procurement w.r.t. the net quantities
of raw materials to be purchased, order-wise and order group-wise
Job dispatches for the work centers in production containing,
for every work center, the specifications of the processing,
start / end dates and time, job priority, current status of
job etc.
Exception messages to planners, management, department incharges
etc
regarding change in production plans or when upon an event occurring
against the production plan.
Early warning messages to ERP users, such as credit payments
worth Rs. 620000 maturing in next 5 days, delivery of Dye Azumuthal
Blue expected tomorrow against PO # 513 etc.
Information for costing module regarding standard production
costs for a planned
order.
